pDoc allows providers to create electronic notes, including admission H&Ps, daily progress notes, and brief clinical notes.

** New ** Methodist Dragon Voice Recognition Pilot (August 2012)

Methodist has started a pilot of Dragon Voice Recognition which allows physicians to directly dictate notes into Meditech. Please complete the online Dragon Pilot Application to request to participate in the pilot.

Can providers continue to dictate?

  • Yes, providers can continue to dictate any document that is dictated today (H&Ps, Op Reports, etc.).

 

Can providers dictate a daily progress note?

  • MHS Transcription does not support dictation of daily progress notes.

 

What are the goal turnaround times for Methodist dictated reports?

  • 2 hours - Preop H&P
  • 4 hours - Cardiac Reports
  • 8 hours - H&P
  • 8 hours - Consult
  • 8 hours - Op Report
  • 24 hours - Discharge Summaries

 

Can providers use Dragon Voice Recognition to dictate notes?

  • Yes, Dragon Voice Recognition can be used to dictate notes directly into Meditech.
  • To apply to participate in the Methodist Dragon Pilot, please complete the online Dragon Pilot Application.
  • Providers can also use their physician office Dragon software to dictate notes into Meditech through MHS Access.

 

Is using the pDoc mandatory?

  • Use of pDoc is highly encouraged, but not mandatory at this time.
  • MHS staff will be contacting providers to encourage use.
  • Now is the best time to learn, as we have a large number of trainers available to support the providers.

 

Are paper progress notes going away?

  • Not immediately. As hospitals transitionto the EHR, many will find paper progress notes obsolete.

 

Will MHS continue to print documents?

  • As the EHR is deployed, MHS willincrementally decrease printing many types of documents.

 

Will a paper patient chart exist?

  • Yes, the paper patient chart will remain. All non-electronic documentation will remain in the chart.

 

Can my Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner create pDoc notes?

  • Yes, all midlevel providers credentialed with MHS can create notes.

 

Do Physician Assistant (PA) and Nurse Practitioner notes need to be co-signed?

  • This is a provider/practice preference. There is no MHS requirement for a co-signature on pDoc notes for mid-level providers. Some practices request to have a co-signature. MHS can support both options.

 

Can my physician office nurse or medical assistant (MA) act as a scribe?

  • No. Meditech currently does not have scribe functionality. We are currently working to implement this functionality in Meditech. No estimated delivery date is available.

 

Can providers build their own pDoc templates?

  • MHS is supporting the development of standardized pDoc templates. Providers cannot build and save their own pDoc templates.
  • We will be working with physician groups to enhance the functionality of the standardized templates.

 

How can I submit comments on the pDoc templates?

  • All requests for improvement to the pDoc templates should be directed to your facility Director of Advanced Clinicals (DAC).
