Did Methodist Medical Staff Leadership have input on proceeding forward with an EHR now?
Yes. Medical Staff Leadership, including physician Chiefs of Staff and hospital leadership (CEOs and CNOs), met in October 2011 and recommended proceeding forward with EHR implementation now.
Is HCA/MHS evaluating alternative EHR systems for future use?
- Yes, HCA is evaluating the next version of Meditech and Epic.
- A future HCA/MHS EHR may not be available for 5-10 years. Therefore, our physician and hospital leadership decided to proceed forward with Meditech Advanced Clinicals now.

- Initial feedback has been favorable from many physicians.
- > 4,000 notes have been created at all MHS campuses in last 2 weeks.
- More than 200 physicians are creating notes online.

Does MHS Medical Staff provide ongoing recommendations regarding the EHR and its clinical functionality?
Yes. Each MHS campus is represented by a Physician Advisory Group that meets monthly to review functionality and providing ongoing recommendations on the EHR deployment. The EHR Physician Leaders who chair the Physician Advisory Groups are listed below.
